Our ranch is a small, family owned operation, located in an ancient rain forest in Northwest Washington State. We are nestled among the towering Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Big Leaf Maple trees. Shadows dance about the ranch, as the sun plays hide and seek with the plant and animal life. Neshamah Tanz (Breath Dance), our founding dog, dances about the ranch in joyful play, as she awaits her first litter of puppies.
Here at Shadow Dance Ranch, we take pride in our breeding program and the philosophy behind our puppy development. We welcomed our newest litter on July 31, 2009 and are using the Monks of New Skete puppy development methods to give them the best start possible. To learn more about these remarkable techniques, see our philosophy page and the Monks of New Skete web site.
If you are interested in purchasing a puppy here or elsewhere, it is important for you to find out the puppies background, it's early experiences, genetic heritage, and general characteristics of the breed, including it's natural growth rate. You may want to ask your breeder what kind of handling your puppy has received. Ask them how they have accommodated the puppies need for experiences and environments that challenge their curiosity and intelligence during the socialization period of their lives from 4-12 weeks. Have they been predominantly kept in a kennel, cage, or room during this critical socialization time. Once you have answers to these questions, you will be ready to make appropriate decisions and help your new puppy develop to it's full potential.
